Thank you for your donations to the United Way. We will be supporting our local community through the ACT Supper and Catholic Charities.

Our Fall Grocery Bag Collection will be donated to the Tioga County Rural Ministry which also helps people in our community. Items needed are canned and packaged foods, personal care products, paper goods, and cleaning supplies.

The Ministry provides many Thanksgiving and Christmas baskets for local families so items such as stuffing mix, cranberry sauce, boxed potatoes, canned vegetables, and dessert mixes will be needed. Your donations will be collected on Sun., November 6.

Our church will host the annual Christmas Day dinner on Sunday, December 25. Many families will enjoy the delicious meal and fellowship in our church. In addition volunteers will be delivering meals to shut-ins throughout Tioga County. We would like to take a small gift to each of these people along with their meal. We have blessed with donations of mittens, stuffed animals, and jigsaw puzzles so far. We are asking for your help in collecting large-print word search books and adult coloring books with boxes of colored pencils. If yu are able to help with this collection please place your donations in the box on the Missions table no later than December 18. If you’d like us to do the shopping a donation can be placed in an envelope in the offering plate clearly marked Missions-shut-in gifts.

We have been in contact with the director of the Headstart program in Owego and she is very grateful that we will again be providing gifts for their students. The names and information about the students will be available on Sunday, November 27 at the Missions table and will be due back by Sunday, December 11.  We will appreciate your helping us with this project which makes Christmas happier for local pre-schoolers.

Thank you for your continued support for the Mission Committee’s efforts to help members of our local community.
Our next meeting is on Sunday, December 11 at 9:30 in the Wesley House Conference Room. We always welcome new members.

We would like to thank everyone involved in making the Harvest Dinner and Country Store a big success. Judy Hartman did a great job planning the menu, shopping, preparing the meal, and supervising the serving and clean up – THANK YOU, JUDY!! We also thank everyone who helped – the kitchen crew, the pie bakers, servers, dishwashers, cleanup crew, and those who made items for the Country Store, and those who worked there. The Youth did a great job serving soup and hot beverages and helping with clean up.  We especially wish to thank all of you who came to the dinner and purchased items at the Country Store.

We thank everyone who donated things for the rummage sale, those who worked, and everyone who came shopping.

As we look ahead…the Dortheans will be having our annual Christmas Cookie and Pretzel Sale on Sunday, December 18.  Orders for the pretzels will be taken in advance – watch for more information.

Thank you for supporting the Dortheans’ efforts to help our church as all of the proceeds from our activities are used for projects within our church.
