But let all who take refuge in you be glad: let them ever sing for joy.

Psalm 5:11a (NIV)

Read Psalm 139:5-18

My wife and I recently visited Washington DC to attend a funeral. Among the necessities like clothes and toiletries were packed my Bible, a book to read and a devotional.

The view from our fifteenth floor window included high rises, The Pentagon and the Washington Monument. Opening my bible that first morning, my eyes scanned the horizon and just to the right of the Washington Monument the sun was appearing above the horizon. Seeing the sun was comforting because it reminded me of my mornings at home praying, reading my Bible and looking out my east-facing window. That window affords me a view of the rising sun, the changing seasons and each day’s weather. It connects me to nature and to an awesome creator.

Watching the sunrise, the realization dawned on me that God is with me and loves me wherever I go. It was comforting to realize that being five or six hours away from my home did not change my relationship with my Lord and Savior. No matter where I go, God is with me and my part is to be faithful.

Prayer: Father God, thank you for your constant unfailing presence. No matter where we go or what we do, you are always there. Even when we are not faithful, you are. Amen.

Thought for the Day: I will remain faithful
